Synthesis: Best Practices for Research Implementation

Background

Significant quantities of transportation research are produced every day. Yet translating the results of that research into practice and policy, and then getting the information into the hands of professionals who would benefit the most remain challenging. In winter maintenance as in other areas of transportation, adopting successful technologies and practices with a proven track record can lead to improved outcomes and operations. To get greater value from study results, agencies need to implement research more quickly and effectively.

Objectives

This project will identify methods and strategies that Clear Roads member states can adopt to ensure valuable research is put into practice.

Expected Results

A synthesis report that summarizes information gathered through available literature, survey responses, and follow up interviews in the areas of planning, equipment, materials, training, technology, and safety.
